SPIRIT NORTH
STRATEGIC
FRAMEWORK
PURPOSE AND CONTEXT
The new Spirit North Strategic Framework sets a bold, shared vision for the future—one grounded in joy, movement, and connection. Shaped by the voices of Indigenous youth, communities, Elders, educators, partners, and our team, it envisions and celebrates a future where all Indigenous youth experience the joy of sport and play, grow strong in their identities, and thrive in connection with community, culture, and the land.
Intentionally visionary, the Strategic Framework looks beyond individual programs or short-term outcomes to articulate the future we are collectively working toward. Rather than focusing on metrics, timelines, or resources, it sets direction and purpose, creating space for innovation, partnerships, and possibilities.
To move from vision to action, Spirit North uses a cascading approach to planning that connects long-term aspirations to day-to-day work:
Strategic Framework: Long-term vision and direction
Business Plan: Medium-term initiatives and projects
Operations Plan: Annual goals and key deliverables
As Spirit North’s north star, the Strategic Framework brings alignment to planning, decision-making, and daily operations. Guided by this shared vision, Spirit North will continue working in partnership with Indigenous Nations, communities, and partners to support Indigenous youth to lead active, connected, and thriving lives, now and for generations to come.
